  Ovation Health assists elderly clients and their families through our staff of Personal healthcare specialists and advocates. Families and elderly clients needing assistance call Ovation Health. The client (and family) speaks with a professional who sets up an initial pre-assessment to determine their needs. Once Ovation Health determines that additional services are needed then a FULL assessment is done to determine all of the issues that need to be overcome. The assessment covers all areas of medical, health, life and social planning. The plan is then implemented with the help of all caregivers to the individual.

  What are the typical issues that Ovation Health usually handles?
  Our company serves as a health/life-care liaison for seniors with providers, insurance plans and other health related community resources. We offer a broad menu of services and can address nearly any healthcare question and issue; including providing assistance, finding primary care and specialist physicians and medical institutions; and resolving claims, billing and related administrative problems. Ovation Health also helps seniors access community resources, including senior care services that fall outside traditional healthcare coverage

Additionally, we follow careful HIPPA protocols that comply with all governmental privacy standards to ensure that members' medical and personal information is fully protected and held confidential.

  What is the difference between traditional health insurance coverage and the services provided by Ovation Health?
  Ovation Health's program is NOT health insurance and is not a replacement for healthcare coverage. Rather, the service is designed to help the elderly and their families to more easily navigate the civic, life care, healthcare, guardianship and insurance systems that serve the senior population. Ovation Health does this by providing each client with access to their own visiting health professional or a geriatric professional as needed. Ovation Health's goal is to maximize each person's experience without the hassles and frustrations they so often typically experience today.

  Does Ovation Health help to save members money?
  Yes. Ovation Health can help clients save money in several ways. First, we save our clients a good deal of time, which translates into financial savings. Ovation Health's staff of experts knows the "ins and outs" of the civic, healthcare, guardianship and insurance systems that are in place to serve seniors. We get to the bottom of whatever problem that our clients face quickly and provide solutions that can save a good deal of money.

Second, Ovation Health can identify billing and claims processing errors, providing additional savings. We may also help negotiate provider charges, which can be another source of savings. Finally, Ovation Health can help get clients in need of medical care to the right provider quickly, avoiding unnecessary shuffling between multiple providers, duplicate tests and services.   Sorry, they are not. Ovation Health currently serves the states of Alabama, Georgia and New York. We do however provide limited advocacy services via telephone. We are expanding and hope to have a national presence soon.

  I travel, both in our country and abroad. Are there any geographic restrictions to Ovation Health
  Urgent coordination of health, guardianship or life care services may be done over the phone to the degree that technology allows. All you need to do to access services is to call (678) 935-1009. Additional costs may apply. We are always available to assist you.

  Our staff members are trained professionals, typically caring social service professionals or highly qualified nurses who have a number of years’ experience working in healthcare related jobs. Ovation Health's staff is carefully screened to make certain that they have both the necessary professional credentials and excellent personal communications skills to deal with the issues and problems that clients’ and their families present to them.

  Does Ovation Health provide 24-hour telephone coverage?
  Yes. You can call Ovation Health 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During normal business hours (Monday - Friday 9am-5pm Central Time) you can reach a staff member directly. After hours and during weekends, you can still call Ovation Health's offices and leave a message. If it is urgent, your message will be relayed to a staff member who is on-call and your call will be answered as soon as practical.

  Can any member of a family call Ovation Health for assistance with a senior?
  Yes. All family members with a vested interest are allowed to call Ovation Health directly for service. However HIPPA protocol states that health, financial and other sensitive information may only be released to those with guardianship rights or POA’s. This may include spouses, adult child(ren), and in-laws.

  Will I be able to speak with the same Person each time I call with an issue?
  Yes. When you call Ovation Health for the first time, you will speak with a Personal Health Advocate (PHA). You will be assigned your own specialist that will coordinate care and services. Each time you call for follow-up help, you will be able to speak with the same person.

  I don't carry my medical coverage/insurance through my past employer and I have Medicare and or Medicaid. Will Ovation Health still help me and my family?
  Since Ovation Health is a “private pay” service, it does not matter what type of health insurance coverage you have. You or the family member that is responsible for your care are billed hourly, daily or by the billing rate of the service that we provide. So you can still use all of the available services Ovation Health offers. We hope that insurance companies will begin to cover services such as ours as we offer a tremendous cost benefit to seniors and their families.

  Yes. Ovation Health will work with you to assist you in locating necessary services.

  My senior family member has a chronic medical problem, and we have shuffled from doctor to doctor without getting a satisfactory solution. How can Ovation Health help me?
  All you need to do is call Ovation Health for assistance. One of our geriatric Care Managers, assisted by our team of medical doctors, will perform an assessment and review the details of your family members’ medical condition in order to fully understand the nature of the problem. After they have reviewed this background information, they will develop a plan of action. Our staff will walk you through the initial, planning, assessment and follow up process to ensure that everything is being done correctly and according to the agreed to treatment plan. Our contracted medical staff will work with you to find the best doctors and other medical providers to help your family member. Frequently we find that additional social services resources are needed. We implement a comprehensive plan to assist your family member.

  I have been following a course of treatment for a medical condition that my doctor recently recommended. Since I am a little anxious about this new approach, can I call Ovation Health to speak with another doctor to get a second opinion?
  Yes. All you need to do is to call your Personal Ovation Health Advocate and explain the nature of your concern. Ovation Health's staff will review your need and help you find another qualified physician who specializes in this condition for a second opinion.

  How do I find out if my mother is eligible for any free services provided in the community or through any other source?
  Simply call Ovation Health. Our Advocates can provide assistance to help you find the information you need. We can also help to find and arrange community based services for your parents. Often, many of these services are provided at little or no cost through government and/or community organizations, which we can help you to identify.

  What criteria does Ovation Health use when making suggestions to a member?
  Ovation Health's staff carefully reviews available options. Depending on the circumstances of your case, we may contact leading medical authorities in local communities and acknowledged centers of medical excellence throughout the nation. Our healthcare staff will also review the healthcare literature and have access to other databases to assist our medical team as they attempt to assist our clients.

  What should I do if I get a bill from a doctor that I think my insurance should have paid?
  First, it is best to contact your health plan and try to resolve the issue. If that doesn't work, simply call Ovation Health if you receive a bill that you believe has not been processed correctly. We will review the bill for you and work to resolve any discrepancies. If necessary, we will contact the healthcare provider and/or your insurance company to attempt to correct any errors.

  I recently tried to obtain an appointment with a specialist physician and was told that I would have to wait more than a month to see the doctor. Can Ovation Health help me get an expedited appointment?
  Often the answer is yes. If it is clear that your condition requires an earlier appointment, your Health Advocate will call the specialist physician and attempt to arrange a more timely appointment.

  When I visit my doctor, I often get confused by all of the technical medical explanations. Can you help me to better understand what my doctor was trying to tell me?
  Yes. Ovation Health may be able to help you better understand your condition. Many times we will take the time to call your doctor's office to get a complete update about what you were told, but did not fully understand. We may arrange another time for you to speak with your doctor, or after we speak with your doctor's office and get the details of your medical condition, we will call you back and explain in simple terms, the status of your medical situation. We can also accompany you to the physician to ensure that you understand what is happening with your care.

  The American health care delivery system is broken and seniors are suffering because of avoidable errors, infections and miscommunication. Physicians and nurses are overworked and distracted. Hospital patient advocates are employed by and work for the hospital, not the patient! Many physicians have gigantic, disorganized practices. They have very little time to If any to focus large amounts of time on patients with complex life and health issues.   We can do the research for you and provide information you need to make better decisions regarding care. We can also help you identify resources that may not have occurred to you. This can be especially useful if your parents don't live in or near a large city.

  Does Ovation Health make decisions regarding my parents' care?
  We do not make final decisions but we will make recommendations. If you are an out-of-town adult son or daughter to a senior, we will gather information and report to you and to your parents so that you can make informed decisions in concert with your own conversations with doctors and medical staff. We are your eyes and ears at doctor appointments, in the hospital and in rehab and in the early stages of follow-up home health care. Ideally, we work in partnership with your family and with the health care professionals responsible for your parents' care. If you are out of the area we can communicate Via telephone conference calls and e-mail.

  What makes Ovation Health different from a case manager or hospital social worker? Why should I pay Ovation Health. Don't they do the same thing for free?
  Ovation Health works solely on behalf of the client and his or her family. Case managers and hospital social workers work for the hospital and in the hospital's interests. Additionally because they frequently have very large caseloads, and are generally overloaded with work, they don't have a lot of time to help families with the nuts and bolts of health care and hospitalizations.
